Assistant Manager – Shooting Sports Operations

Powder Creek Shooting Park

Powder Creek Shooting Park, located in Lenexa , is seeking a dependable and motivated Assistant Manager to help oversee daily operations at the premier clay target shooting facility in the Kansas City area.

Powder Creek offers Trap, Skeet, 5-Stand, and Sporting Clays and hosts leagues, group events, and corporate outings throughout the year. This position works directly with the General Manager to ensure smooth operations, excellent customer service, and a safe and enjoyable environment for staff and guests.

This is a hands-on leadership position combining operational management, staff supervision, equipment oversight, and outdoor facility operations.

Compensation -

Salary: $45,000 – $55,000 annually
Salary will be determined based on education, experience, and qualifications.

Schedule -

  • Wednesday – Sunday availability required
  • Typical hours: approximately 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM each day Wednesdays through Sundays
  • Additional hours such as Wednesday and Thursday evenings until 9:00pm may be required during tournaments, leagues, and special events

Key Responsibilities:

Operations & Facility Management -

  • Assist the General Manager with daily operational oversight of the shooting park
  • Ensure all ranges (Trap, Skeet, 5-Stand, Sporting Clays) are operating efficiently and safely
  • Coordinate maintenance and filling of clay target throwing machines
  • Oversee property maintenance including mowing, landscaping, tree trimming, and general groundskeeping
  • Maintain the overall cleanliness and presentation of the facility

Equipment & Vehicle Maintenance -

Assist with maintenance and oversight of facility equipment, including:

  • Customer- rented golf carts
  • Employee UTVs
  • Tractors and mowing equipment
  • Skid steer equipment

Responsibilities may include -

  • Routine inspections and preventative maintenance
  • Basic mechanical upkeep and troubleshooting
  • Coordinating repairs or servicing when necessary

Staff Leadership -

  • Assist with employee scheduling and weekly staffing plans
  • Supervise and support range staff during daily operations
  • Help train employees on safety procedures and operational tasks
  • Ensure employees provide professional customer service and maintain shotgun safety standards

Administrative & Business Operations -

  • Assist with inventory management and supply ordering
  • Support budgeting, purchasing, and vendor coordination
  • Assist with cash handling, deposits, and sales tracking
  • Coordinate and support group events, leagues, and corporate outings
  • Assist with project planning and facility improvements

Customer Service & Safety -

  • Provide excellent customer service to members and guests
  • Ensure all shooting activities follow established shotgun safety procedures
  • Support leagues, tournaments, and special events

Qualifications -

Preferred candidates will have:

  • Previous management or supervisory experience
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Experience with scheduling, inventory, or operational management
  • Mechanical aptitude or experience with equipment maintenance
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to lift clay target boxes and equipment
  • Interest in shooting sports or outdoor recreation (preferred but not required)

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Additional education or management experience is a plus.
