EDM Operator | Traverse City, MI

Salary Range: $50,000 - $80,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor EDM machines (wire and/or sinker) according to specifications.
• Load and verify CNC programs, making minor adjustments as needed.
• Select, install, and align electrodes, wire, and workpieces accurately.
• Perform in-process and final inspections of machined parts using precision measuring tools.
• Conduct routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of EDM equipment.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
• Maintain accurate production records and log machine parameters.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment.

Recommended Qualifications

• 2+ years of direct experience operating Wire and/or Sinker EDM machines.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T.
• Ability to perform machine setup, tooling, and make basic program adjustments.
• Skilled in using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, optical comparators).
• Strong understanding of various materials and their properties relevant to EDM processes.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam).
• Experience operating CMMs or other advanced metrology equipment.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and minor machine maintenance.
• Prior experience in a tool & die or precision machining environment.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles or 5S methodologies.
