TIME FRAME: THIS IS A SHORT TERM, SEASONAL POSITION

April 20 to May 4, 2026

*Must have a valid National Accreditation Board (or the equivalent) Food Handlers Certificate.

POSITION SUMMARY: Works closely with the Food Field Operations Manager, Senior DHH/ATG Monitor, Food Coordinator , and Food Director with the monitoring of around the grounds food booth operations and food safety protocols. This position requires a lot of walking throughout the day.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Pre-event duties:

  • Assist Food Field Operations Coordinator with all aspects of producing the food booth operation including, but not limited to placing grease barrels, pallets, signage, barricades, fencing and other production elements.
  • Become familiar with the field lay out. The vendors associated with this position are located throughout the Fair site.
  • Responsible for checking field for food safety supplies, including but not limited to booth temperature charts, clipboards, stem thermometers, alcohol swabs, refer truck thermometers and temperature charts, field kitchen supplies, sanitizer, pH strips.
  • Assist with problem solving and additional tasks as needed during load in.
  • Assist with labeling food booths with vendor's names.· Hang clipboards for temperature charts in all booths. Assist with labeling shelves in refrigerated trucks with vendor' names.
  • Responsible for placement of food operations signs in the field kitchen, cook sheds, refer trucks, area behind food booths, etc.

Event days:

  • Assist Vendors with load-in and load-out on a daily basis.
  • Assist Food Department Supervisors with identifying and quickly solving problems. This often requires being flexible about a duty to be performed on short notice, including covering any necessary open monitor positions.
  • Make routine checks of food vendors and booths to ensure a smooth operation. This is to be done frequently.
  • Oversee use of field kitchens to assure cleanliness and order. Check holding tanks to prevent overflow.
  • After daily departure of DHH, make routine checks of food vendors to ensure quality control. This is to be done on an hourly basis. Monitors are equipped with a calibrated, functional food thermometer to check food temperatures.
  • Assist with other field operations including monitoring VIP/Sponsor Hospitality and Food Heritage Stages.
  • If necessary, relieve stationary monitors for short breaks.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
  • Using the Absentee Request Form, it is the responsibility of each employee and their supervisor to accurately report their absenteeism to the Festival Human Resources Office.
  • Must maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive issues.
  • Must attend and complete any required training.
  • Any document, computer program, design, or other intellectual property created for the Jazz Festival belongs to the Jazz Festival and must be given to the festival through your supervisor or department head at the end of each production year, or upon request.
  • Must complete all required Feedback Forms and Final Reports.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

Food service industry background preferred, working knowledge of Health Department rules and regulations, and safe food handling practices.

Problem solving abilities, good organization skills, ability to handle high-stress and pressure in a production setting. Must be comfortable

with numbers and charts. Must be able to perform moderate (40#) lifting. Ability to traverse the field rapidly on foot and work outside in all

weather conditions.
