The RRCC Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences is seeking a part-time instructor to teach Geology courses. While the primary need is for in-person classes, online sections may also be available. Environmental Science courses may also be available for a finalist qualified in that area.
We are looking for an enthusiastic professional with a passion for teaching and helping students succeed. The successful candidate has a strong commitment to effective, engaging teaching and creates a class environment that encourages learning. The instructor must be patient and respectful, while also providing clear expectations for what is considered acceptable work. The instructor must display dedication to the class as well as to the goals of the program.
Part-time instructor responsibilities include instruction, student assessment, and other related instructional duties. Face-to-face classes may be held days, evenings, or weekends. Online classes have primarily asynchronous instruction through the COOnline consortium.
This position reports to the department chair and does not supervise other employees. Occasional meetings or trainings may also be scheduled outside of regular work hours. The finalist must be willing to make Colorado their primary workplace, including for online classes.

15 credit hours of teaching experience in higher education.
Experience teaching both in-person and online.
Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse communities and supporting individuals from diverse populations, which may include but are not limited to, racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented.
Proficiency in curriculum development and instruction.
Experience teaching in a community college and an understanding of the role, philosophy, and mission of community colleges.
Additional coursework and/or teaching experience in Environmental Science.
Physical & Cognitive Demands
Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files, office materials, and geologic materials weighing up to 30 lbs.
This position often operates in an office environment, constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment such as copiers.
While in the classroom and laboratory, this position requires moving around to set up labs, engage and assist students, and put materials away. While on field trips, moving short distances over uneven surfaces may be necessary.
The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations in a professional and constructive manner.
Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

Advertised Hourly Pay
The pay for this position is $1,660.54-$1826.60 per credit hour for lecture/lab classes and $1,177.73-$1,294.58 per credit hour for non-lab lecture classes, commensurate with education and experience. This is a part-time, FLSA exempt position and may work up to 28 hours per week, depending on budget and need. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.

Medical insurance is offered to instructors and other variable hour employees who have worked, on average, at least 30 hours per week in a 12-month period. RRCC/CCCS uses an initial 12-month measurement period to determine medical benefit eligibility, and a 12-month standard measurement period. Student employees are limited to working no more than 20 hours a week when classes are in session, and may work up to 28 hours a week, during academic breaks or breaks between terms at the discretion of the college, and non-classified hourly and temporary staff are limited to 28 hours in a workweek, depending on budget and need.
