Purple Unicorn  is hiring a  Sports and Wellness Director  on behalf of the  Mandel JCC. 

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Senior Programming Director, the Sports and Wellness Director is responsible for sports programs from preschool through adult and wellness programs for adults at the Mandel JCC. Sports Programs include preschool PE, enrichment classes, sports clinics, and leagues. Wellness programs include fitness and wellness activities for young adults through seniors. This positional so includes the Sports Camp Director at Camp Shalom.

Normal working hours will include evenings and weekends.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Working with our Program Directors to create and bring to life a vision for an intentional integration of sports and wellness in our existing youth programs. This involves both planning with the program directors, overseeing the safety and quality of our programs, and providing direct instruction of sports and wellness activities throughout our youth programs
• Expanding the JCC's Enrichment area, which currently consists of thematic birthday parties and recreational for 2 - 14 year-olds during the week including the weekend. This will be a key area for strengthening and development
• Instruct Early Childhood Physical Education based on chosen curriculum
• Develop, coordinate, and instruct after school enrichment classes
• Develop and teach (when applicable) clinics. Clinics may be taught by the Director of Sports, Enrichment and Wellness or outside vendors
• Serving as the Head of our Sports specialty area at our summer Day Camp (Camp Shalom). This involves planning innovative, engaging and safe sport and recreational activities for campers 5-16 year olds; hiring, training, overseeing and evaluating sport specialists; and being a key member of the camp leadership team throughout the entire program.
• Coach groups or individuals in the fundamentals of sports
• Running the JCC's Winter, Spring Sports Camps as well as one off No School Holidays
• Create and oversee sports league for children and adults
• Establishing a culture of health and self-care in the organization and our community by providing training and educational experiences to staff and community members
• Creating new community opportunities for Sports and Wellness engagement for people of all ages, including but limited to competitive leagues, bike-rides, water sports, hikes, runs, education around nutrition and self-care, etc.
• Exposing the JCC's Sports and Wellness programs to the wider community by maximizing the beautiful parks and outdoor spaces in our community
• Working with the Director of Special Needs to provide programming an engagement opportunities for children with exceptionalities
• Creates, coordinates, and implements recruitment strategy & marketing materials.
• Develops and manages program budgets.
• Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Position Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years' working with children and sports.
• Demonstrates excellent communication skills and sensitivity and comfort in engaging with people of all ages.
• Passionate about Judaism and Jewish communal life.
• Energized by kids and/or teens.
• Excellent oral and written skills.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, and prioritize demands.
• Flexible, able to meet changing work needs and demands.
• Excellent organizational and supervisory skills (including talent development).
• Plans and utilizes time effectively with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff and community members
• A sense of humor and a passion for learning are essential.

Special Requirements and Physical Demands:

• Ability to exert moderate physical efforts which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weights (up to 50 lbs.), bending, stooping, stretching, squatting and sitting;
• Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
• Noise level can be quiet to moderate.
• Flexibility to work various schedules as needed.
