Under direction of the Information Technology Supervisor II (IT Sup II), the Information Technology Specialist I (ITS I) perform system test activities that involve planning, developing, and implementing technological solutions that are essential to the mission of the overall organization in Testing 1 Unit, Testing Section, Applications Development & Testing Branch, within the Technology Services Division (TSD).

Working Conditions

Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) is a diverse, family-friendly organization. The headquarters office is in Rancho Cordova, convenient to Highway 50, with free parking, close to restaurants and shopping. The facility consists of a standard office workspace, within a 2-story building, and may require sitting for extended periods of time while using a personal computer, reviewing documents, and attending meetings. The position requires occasional travel to off-site meeting locations, conferences, or training. The work environment is fast paced and requires the incumbent to be flexible, use good time management practices, and effectively identify priorities to complete assignments in a timely manner.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule and requires employees to work two days, each week, on-site at our headquarters office in Rancho Cordova, CA; however, changes to the hybrid/telework program are at the department's and/or Governor’s discretion. DCSS does utilize a shared workspace or “hoteling” when working in the office.

All employees may be required to report in person to the Rancho Cordova headquarters and/or off-site events or locations, as determined by management.

Special Requirements

• The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.

• Fingerprint/Criminal Record Clearance is required before hire.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Strong programming/scripting skills in Java and/or TypeScript .
• Hands-on experience with Selenium and/or Playwright for UI test automation.
• Experience with Cucumber and Gherkin for Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).
• Familiarity with keyword-driven frameworks and test automation design patterns.
• Proficiency in SQL for backend data validation and test data setup.
• Experience with Jenkins or similar CI/CD tools for test automation integration.
• Working knowledge of Application Life Cycle Management (ALM). tools. Understanding of test data management strategies and tools.
• Experience generating test reports using Allure or similar reporting tools.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills in test automation environments.
• Good understanding of SDLC & software testing.
