Description

Astrana Health is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer. Astrana is looking for a highly motivated candidate who will enable the CMO to work at their highest level of impact by leading cross-functional priorities, ensuring operational excellence, and enhancing communication flow across Astrana’s care enablement and care delivery teams. The ideal candidate is someone who can balance strategic thinking with disciplined execution and ultimately, a strong operator at heart—someone who thrives in ambiguity, learns quickly, and is eager to grow into a broader operational leadership role.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Operational Leadership

Serve as a strategic thought partner to the CMO—helping clarify priorities, prepare materials, and ensure follow-through on key initiatives.
Manage and monitor OKRs and KPIs, dashboards, and performance indicators for all CMO-led functions.
Lead preparation for board meetings, executive updates, leadership offsites, and clinical reviews.
Anticipate needs, remove obstacles, and proactively identify areas where the CMO’s attention or decision-making is required.

Clinical Program Management & Project Execution

Lead high-priority, CMO-sponsored projects from concept to execution, such as workflow redesign, quality initiatives, or clinical operations pilots.
Support design, rollout, and evaluation of clinical programs (e.g., home health, chronic disease management, provider enablement initiatives).
Conduct root cause analyses on clinical performance issues and propose actionable solutions.
Create project plans, set timelines, identify risks, and ensure accountability across stakeholders.
Establish and refine processes to improve scalability, reliability, and transparency across clinical operations.

Cross-Functional Alignment & Communication

Act as an integrator between clinical, operational, quality, and other shared services teams.
Drive crisp, consistent communication—synthesizing complex issues into clear recommendations.
Ensure initiatives run smoothly by coordinating across executives, physicians, and operational leaders. Support change management and ensure adoption of new workflows, technologies, or clinical protocols.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MPH, MHA, MBA, MSN, or clinical degree) strongly preferred.
5–10+ years of experience in healthcare operations, clinical program management, consulting, or a similar environment.
Experience working in a fast-paced, matrixed healthcare organization or value-based care model is a plus.
Exceptional communication skills—able to translate complex clinical or operational issues into clear, actionable insights.
Proven track record of leading projects, meaningful outcomes, and influencing without authority.
Strong analytical, process-oriented, and strategic thinking capabilities.
High EQ, resilience, comfort with ambiguity, and a bias toward action.
Ability to build trust with clinicians and operational leaders alike.
