The State Fair Worker (SFW-Painter) may perform the preparation, painting and finishing of wood and metal surfaces; preparation of cost estimates; the maintenance of tools and equipment in good repair; and preparation of simple reports.

Working Conditions

• Works near fast-moving machinery or traffic.
• Periodic Overtime.
• May be required to respond after work hour.
• Works at elevated heights.
• May be exposed to extreme temperatures, airborne dust, fumes, vapors, chemicals, medical waste and blood borne pathogen.
• Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, kneeling, bending, and lifting.

Special Requirements

• The position(s) require(s) a valid California Drivers License (CDL). You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your application. Ensure you provide your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.

• Participation in DMV Pull Notice Program

• Must complete fingerprints through Live Scan

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Knowledge of general construction trades concepts.
• Knowledge of Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).
• Knowledge of Materials Safety Data sheet (MSDS).
• Knowledge of Bio Hazard Signs and Symbols.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety practices.
• Knowledge of governmental procurement rules, regulations and procedures.
• Experience reading and understanding blue prints, shop drawings and cut sheets.
• Experience and knowledge of building code requirements and laws.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office systems; Word, Publisher, Outlook and Internet.
• Experience working with multi-team members to see projects from conception to completion.
• Strong organizational skills, timeline management, meet deadlines requirements.
• Written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and be able to multi-task.
• Ability to research and apply applicable laws, rules, and policies.
• Exceptional attendance, punctuality, and dependability.
• Outstanding customer service skills, consultative abilities, exhibit tact and diplomacy in verbal and written communications, and possess a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work independently or cooperatively in a group setting.
